Announce Recall of Candleholder Sets WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Roman Inc. of Roselle, Ill., is recalling about 800 train candleholder sets. The candleholders can melt and ignite when exposed to a direct flame, presenting a fire hazard. CPSC and Roman Inc. are aware of one report of a candleholder melting and igniting a bathroom vanity. No injuries have been reported. The candleholder set includes one locomotive and two boxcars. The locomotive and boxcars are acrylic and the candle receptacle is brass. Each boxcar has brass plates on the sides which read, "MERRY CHRISTMAS." There is a hang tag attached to the set, which is labeled in part, "Roman Inc...Made in Taiwan...Item 76530." Card, gift, hardware and specialty stores nationwide sold the candleholder sets from March 1996 through March 1997 for about $16. Consumers should stop using the candleholder sets immediately. Consumers will receive a refund by returning the candleholder sets to the store where purchased or to Roman Inc. at 555 Lawrence Avenue, Roselle, IL 60172. Consumers will be reimbursed for postage. May 10, 1990 Release # 90-095 Roman, Inc. Issues Warning To Remove Tears From Stuffed Lambs WASHINGTON, DC -- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Roman, Inc., Roselle, IL is issuing a warning to consumers about certain stuffed lambs imported from Korea. Approximately 7,000 lambs were sold nationwide during 1989. Each stuffed lamb has a small clear plastic tear attached beneath the left eye that can be easily pulled off and ingested by children. These beige and white lambs stand 8-1/2 inches tall, have two dark glass eyes, a yellow nose, a band-aid on the left front leg and a circular pin that reads "Jesus make me new again!" The lambs sold for approximately $13 each. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any injuries involving this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers are urged to remove and throw away the small plastic tear. The potentially hazardous lambs were identified at the Port of Chicago during a joint CPSC/U.S. Customs Service surveillance program
