Class II - Moderate
These leaf and lawn vacuums have a plastic elbow and blower exit adaptor that is connected to the top of the shredding chamber. The plastic can crack, allowing stones, large sticks, and other material to puncture the plastic. This creates the possibility that pieces of plastic or other debris can fly upward toward bystanders or the operator. When this occurs, the potential for personal injury or property damage exists. This is more prone to occur when the outside temperatures are below 35 degrees.
Class II - Moderate
Because these lawnmowers lack a safety guard, a consumer's foot could go under the plastic housing and be struck by the blade. These lawnmowers do not comply with the mandatory federal safety standard for lawnmowers under the Consumer Product Safety Act.
Class I - Dangerous
A wiring problem on the lawnmower's circuit board may cause some of the safety functions to become inoperable. The mower may continue to operate, after the Operator Presence Control Bar is released. The blade also may continue to spin for an extended period of time, after the mower has been shut off. Contact with a moving lawnmower blade can result in lacerations or serious injury to the hand or foot.
